Do I need to book sessions ?

You can come along to sessions at HYMB without booking. If it is the first time you have been to the base please call us during the week so that we answer any questions you may have.
Trips and Pool sessions do need to be pre-booked using the online forms and paid for in advance.

How do I sign in ?
At HYMB you need to go to reception and sign in (THIS KEEPS THE BASE HAPPY FOR THEIR FIRE REGULATIONS) so that we know you are on site and then come down to the club CONTAINER, WHERE YOU WILL NEED TO SIGN IN & PAY THE FEES. At the pool just sign in at the poolside with the club coach..

Do I need to join the club ?
You can come along to one of our taster sessions and see what paddling and the club is like with out any commitment to join the club

What are the benefits of club membership ?
Access to our fleet of boats, free coaching, organised trips and paddling safely with a group.

Do I need to complete a consent form ?
Yes we will need you to complete an emergency contact and medical form. This will need to be signed by a parent or carerer if you are under 18

Will I need to help put kit away ?
Particpants will need to help the group with carrying boats and equipment from the storage area to the water and putting it away at the end of the session. Please let the leader know if you have any medical condtion which would be exacerbated by carrying the boats.

What will we do ?
The clubs main aim is the introduction of new memebrs to canoeing. Coaches are on hand to take you through the basics of how to paddle if you want, or you can just go for a gentle chillout paddle around the lake and local area, its really up to you.

Do I need to do a capsize test ?
No, we are a canoe and not a swimming club, our aim is to keep you dry, warm and in your boat so that you can enjoy paddling with us. HOWEVER YOU MUST BE AWARE THAT YOU MAY WELL CAPSIZE ACCIDENTLY. YOU WILL BE BRIEFED AS TO WHAT TO DO IF THIS HAPPENS BEFORE YOU GO OUT ON YOUR FIRST SESSION.
